The natural element sulfur may smell like rotten eggs, but it very useful in the treatment of many skin conditions, including acne. This is partly due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory qualities and its ability to draw oil and toxins from the outside of pores. Sulfur is a gentle keratolytic agent, meaning that it exfoliates skin without irritation or excessive peeling. Sulfur is found naturally in our bodies and is actually an important part of the collagen production within skin. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why it is such an effective treatment for skin disorders. Sulfur containing masks, washes and lotions are abundantly available to anyone seeking a natural treatment for acne.  Also, if you’re lucky enough to visit a hot-spring, keep in mind that taking a dip is actually good for your skin!

I use sulfur on a regular basis to treat my acne lesions. It is one of my go-to’s for spot treatment and I’ve found that it drastically reduces pimples overnight. The night before a family picture I applied some on a lesion and when I woke up nearly all of the redness was gone.
